The Arlington Historical Society Museum will reopen Saturday, May 3, 2025, following months of preservation work, renovations and exhibit updates.
The reopening celebration will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can meet Barbara Noe Kennedy, author of “100 Things to Do in Arlington Before You Die,” during the event.
Museum Director Bethany Baker said volunteers and community partners helped refresh older displays and develop new exhibits featuring original stories and historical signage.
Among the additions is “Memorializing the Enslaved,” an exhibit examining the lives of enslaved people who lived and worked in Arlington. Historical records, artifacts and personal accounts recognize their experiences, contributions and resilience.
Society President David Pearson said the reopening offers an opportunity to renew public engagement with Arlington’s diverse local history. It also positions the museum to commemorate two major milestones in 2026: the Arlington Historical Society’s 70th anniversary and the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
After reopening day, the museum will operate Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Group tours and volunteer opportunities can be requested by emailing info@arlingtonhistoricalsociety.org.
