Arlington School-Zone Cameras Stay Active for Summer Classes

Four Arlington school-zone speed cameras will remain operational during the Arlington Public Schools Summer School Program, which runs from July 7 through Aug. 1, 2025.

Four Arlington school-zone speed cameras will remain operational during the Arlington Public Schools Summer School Program, which runs from July 7 through Aug. 1, 2025.

The PhotoSPEED cameras are located in the following areas:

Eastbound 5800 block of Williamsburg Boulevard
Eastbound 3500 block of 2nd Street S.
Southbound 1200 block of S. George Mason Drive
Eastbound 4500 block of Washington Boulevard

The cameras operate when school-zone beacons flash during student arrival and dismissal periods. Each violation carries a $100 civil fine issued to the vehicle’s registered owner.

PhotoSPEED is part of Arlington County’s Automated Safety Enforcement Program and supports its Vision Zero initiative. The county’s action plan calls for eliminating severe injuries and deaths on Arlington’s transportation network by 2030, with automated enforcement intended to reduce speeds and promote more equitable enforcement.
