The Chantilly Chargers captured their first girls gymnastics regional team title since 2011, edging McLean by just 0.325 points at the 6D North Region championship.

Chantilly finished with 141.450 points at the Monday, Feb. 10, meet at Washington-Liberty High School in Arlington. McLean placed second with 141.125, followed by Oakton at 138.40 and Madison at 137.7.

The victory came less than a week after Oakton narrowly defeated Chantilly for the Concorde District championship.

Senior Alli Booker powered the Chargers with an all-around-winning score of 37.6, finishing just ahead of McLean runner-up Skylar Thomas, who totaled 37.275. Booker also won the Concorde District all-around title days earlier.

Booker took first on vault with a 9.675 and uneven bars with a 9.15. She placed third on floor exercise at 9.25 and fourth on balance beam at 9.525.

Chantilly received contributions throughout its lineup. Sophomore Mazzie Cox scored 8.9 on floor, 8.825 on bars and 8.1 on beam. Junior Adison Zampiello posted a 9.0 on floor, 8.7 on vault and 8.15 on bars, while freshman Julia Hodinko recorded an 8.5 on vault.

Senior Michaela Turner added scores of 8.75 on floor, 8.65 on vault and 8.225 on bars.

Among Chantilly’s other juniors, Sabirah Smith Bey earned a 9.0 on floor and 8.75 on beam. Lauren Lattanze scored 8.825 on beam, 8.7 on vault and 7.925 on bars, while Emma Saunders posted a 7.95 on beam.

Thomas led McLean with second-place finishes on beam at 9.725, vault at 9.5 and bars at 9.075. She finished seventh on floor with an 8.975.

Oakton’s Elissha Chi won the beam with a 9.75, placed fourth on vault with a 9.15 and finished fifth in the all-around at 35.65.

Marshall’s Molly Peksens took sixth in the all-around with 35.375, followed by Oakton’s Tessa Gay in seventh at 35.025 and Madison’s Charlotte Feigin in eighth at 34.25.

Peksens placed second on floor with a 9.3 and fifth on beam with a 9.475. Feigin finished fourth on floor at 9.225, while Madison teammate Lydia Shaw placed fifth at 9.075. Gay took fifth on vault with a 9.1.

Centreville’s Brandyn Mills finished third on bars with an 8.975, and Oakton’s Nyla Williams placed sixth in the event at 8.7. McLean’s Olivia Nguyen was sixth on vault with a 9.05.

Westfield’s Jenna Van Buren also earned top-10 finishes on floor and vault.
