Washington’s Tidal Basin cherry blossoms are expected to reach peak bloom between March 29 and April 1, the National Park Service announced Thursday. The National Cherry Blossom Festival will run from March 20 through April 12, bringing events across the D.C. region.
Fairfax County school leaders are considering tougher discipline as some students use artificial intelligence to create fake nude images of classmates. Under a proposed policy, students responsible for such deepfakes could receive suspensions of up to five days and referrals to the superintendent and law enforcement.
Safety improvements remain pending on Lee Chapel Road more than three years after a crash killed two teenagers. Virginia restaurants could soon face a lower food-sales requirement for liquor licenses. Legislation passed by both General Assembly chambers would reduce the minimum ratio of food to alcohol sales from 45% to 30%. Gov. Abigail Spanberger could sign the measure, which would represent one of the state’s most significant liquor-license changes in more than 30 years.
