The Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton will host its first convention-style comic and pop culture event Saturday, bringing celebrity guests, cosplay, vendors and fan activities to the historic campus.

ComicWorx will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 9518 Workhouse Way. Early-entry and VIP ticket holders can enter at 9 a.m.

The event’s featured guest is voice actor John Swasey, whose anime credits include “Attack on Titan,” “Fullmetal Alchemist,” “My Hero Academia” and “One Piece.” Swasey will join a “Guess the Line” game on the main stage at 1 p.m. and offer photographs and autographs for an additional charge.

Other activities include celebrity meet-and-greets, panel discussions, interactive fan experiences and multiple cosplay showcases. Vendors will include Ghostbusters, VA, a charitable nonprofit organized by fans of the franchise.

The day’s schedule begins with Hero Yoga at 10:30 a.m. in Building W4. Animator Cameron Porter, a 20-year industry veteran, will lead a “So You Want to Be an Animator?” discussion on the main stage at 11 a.m.

“Cosplay Photography 101” follows at noon, with “Guess the Line” at 1 p.m. A cosplay contest begins at 2:30 p.m., and Moonscape Ensemble will perform video game and anime music at 4 p.m.

Workhouse Arts Center CEO Keith Gordon said the gathering is intended to bring artists, fans and innovators together while showcasing the venue as a place for imagination, collaboration and ambitious ideas.

General admission starts at $17.59 and includes entry at 10 a.m. Early admission costs an additional $5. VIP tickets are $39 and include early entry, front-of-line autograph access and other benefits. Tickets are available through the Workhouse Arts Center’s website.

ComicWorx arrives as the region’s pop culture convention landscape changes. The Fairfax Comic Con had drawn fans annually to the Dulles Expo Center since 2018, but the venue’s December closure forced that convention’s organizers to search for a new location.
