Fairfax County Athlete Earns Spot as Team Virginia Golf Candidate

Michael Long received a surprise celebration as family, friends, police officers and other onlookers gathered to recognize his latest athletic achievement.

With bagpipes playing and officers assembled, Davis announced that Long had been selected as a unified golf candidate for Team Virginia. The team will attend the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in June 2026.

Girls Fire and Rescue Academy Returns

Fairfax County’s free Girls Fire and Rescue Academy will run from Tuesday, June 24, through Friday, June 27, 2025.

The camp is open to Fairfax County residents entering grades 9 through 12 during the 2025-2026 school year. Applications are due May 16.

Sheriff’s Office Expands Bike Team

The Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office also welcomed the latest graduates of its Bike Team, a group of deputies assigned to provide law enforcement support at the Judicial Complex, special events and operations involving other jurisdictions.

Team members will assist residents, direct traffic and connect with the public at community events, bicycle-safety demonstrations and fairs.
