Two former Fairfax County high school standouts have become central to Gettysburg College’s strong women’s basketball season.

Starting junior guards Alayna Arnolie, a Madison High School graduate, and A.B. Holsinger, a Langley High School graduate, helped the Bullets compile an 11-1 record through Jan. 7.

Arnolie led Gettysburg in several categories through 12 games. She averaged a team-high 16 points, recorded 34 steals and made 23 three-pointers. She also ranked second with 29 assists and fourth in rebounding at 4.1 per game.

In Gettysburg’s most recent contest, Arnolie finished with 13 points and six steals. Her career scoring total stood at 908 points, putting her within reach of 1,000 this season.

Arnolie was named Centennial Conference Player of the Year last season after helping Gettysburg advance to the NCAA Division III national tournament.

Holsinger averaged eight points per game as the Bullets’ fourth-leading scorer. She paced the team with 44 assists while averaging 3.1 rebounds and adding 13 steals and 13 three-pointers. Her career total reached 420 points through the season’s first 12 games.

Both guards earned all-district, all-region and all-state honors during high school. Arnolie helped Madison capture multiple Virginia High School League Class 6 state championships, while Langley regularly competed for district, regional and state titles during Holsinger’s time with the Saxons.

Arnolie’s twin sister, Grace, also is enjoying a productive college season at Brown University in the Ivy League. Through 14 games, Grace led Brown with 13.9 points per game, 56 assists and 25 steals. She had made 24 three-pointers and averaged 3.4 rebounds.

Grace Arnolie had scored 887 career points, giving both sisters a strong opportunity to surpass 1,000 during the season.
