Fairfax County is preparing for a packed summer of live music, with free community concerts, major touring performers and outdoor festivals scheduled from May into early fall.
From Wolf Trap and Capital One Hall to town greens and neighborhood parks, residents will have options across the county. Here is a look at the announced series and venues.
Countywide performances
The Fairfax County Park Authority brings free live entertainment to every magisterial district through its annual Summer Entertainment Series.
The 2026 schedule had not been released as of press time. In 2025, the program presented 189 performances at 14 venues and attracted an estimated 35,141 people.
Reston
Reston Concerts on the Town will begin its 33rd season on May 16, with free performances scheduled each Saturday through Aug. 22.
Most concerts will start at 7:30 p.m., while the June 5-6 events will begin at 5:30 p.m. The lineup includes emmet swimming, Delta Spur, Big Al and The Jokers, the Pat McGee Band, RDGLDGRN and The Ocean Blue.
Shows will be held at the Reston Town Center Pavilion, 1818 Discovery Street.
The Reston Community Center will also organize several recurring programs, including Happy Hour with Darden & Friends and Sunday Art in the Park at Reston Town Square Park, Summerbration Fab Fridays at Reston Station, Sunset Concerts at Lake Anne Plaza and Take a Break at Halley Rise. Times and locations vary by series.
Tysons and McLean
Capital One Hall will stage concerts from early May through August, with Equity Arc, Double Duran and George Thorogood & The Destroyers among the scheduled performers.
Ticket prices vary. The venue is at 7750 Capital One Tower Road in Tysons.
Nearby, the McLean Community Center will bring its free Summer Concerts in the Park back to the pavilion at McLean Central Park, 1468 Dolley Madison Boulevard.
Performances are planned for 7 p.m. every Thursday from June 18 through July 30. The series ranges from The Pack Drumline’s Juneteenth celebration and an Elton John tribute for Pride Month to go-go group Experience Unlimited, also known as EU, and a patriotic Beach Boys cover band.
Vienna and Wolf Trap
The Town of Vienna’s Summer on the Green series will offer concerts on select Fridays from June through mid-August.
Scheduled acts include the Sarah Swanner Band, the Cassaday Concoction, U.S. Army Blues Swamp Romp and the U.S. Army Band Commodores. The roughly 90-minute performances will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Vienna Town Green, 144 Maple Avenue East.
Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts will launch its summer season in late May and continue through August. Chance the Rapper, Diana Ross, Jon Batiste, Thee Sacred Souls, Pepe Aguilar and Sting are among the announced artists.
Wolf Trap will also present an America250 series marking the nation’s 250th birthday, including a special tribute to John Prine’s musical legacy. Ticket prices vary for performances at the Filene Center, 1551 Trap Road in Vienna.
City of Fairfax
Rock the Block returns May 22 with free concerts on select Fridays from late May through late October.
The Reflex, Perfekt Blend, My Chemical Bromance and Groovalicious are among the scheduled bands. Performances will run from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Old Town Square, 10415 North Street.
South County
Fort Hunt Park will host free concerts every Sunday in June, July and August.
The National Concert Band of America, Nitehawks, Blue Breeze Band, Mount Vernon Community Band, NOVA Mountain Dulcimers and Alte Kameraden are included in the lineup.
Concerts will start at 7 p.m. at Pavilion A, 8999 Fort Hunt Road.
Herndon
Friday Night Live! will open its 32nd free outdoor concert series on May 22, with shows scheduled every Friday through Sept. 4.
Performers will include Lost In Paris, Pool Boys, KleptoRadio, Social Call, Legal in The District, The Reflex and Shake the Room.
Music begins at 6 p.m. at the Herndon Town Green, 777 Lynn Street.
