Fairfax County firefighter Brandon Winfield died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, following a brief illness. He had served with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department for 20 years.

Winfield began his firefighting career in 2006 as a member of Recruit Class 121. At the time of his death, he was assigned to C-Shift at Fire Station 37 in Kingstowne.

During his two decades with the department, Winfield became known as a dedicated firefighter, trusted mentor and valued friend. His ability to lift the spirits of those around him left a lasting impression on his colleagues and the wider community he served.

Winfield is survived by his wife, Rebecca, and their two young daughters, Dylan and Colby. His family also includes his mother, Lewoner, and his siblings, Duane and Robin.

The men and women of Fairfax County Fire and Rescue extended their condolences to Winfield’s family, friends, colleagues and others whose lives he touched. His service and influence will be deeply missed throughout the department and community.
