Pride Month will bring festivals, music, art projects, trivia and a burst of color to communities across Fairfax County throughout June.
Although RestonPride canceled its annual festival this year because of what organizers called “critical” capacity and organizational challenges, residents still have numerous opportunities to celebrate and support the LGBTQ community.
June 6
Fairfax Pride, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sherwood Community Center, 3740 Blenheim Blvd., Fairfax City
The festival will feature community vendors, live music and children’s activities, including face painting and caricatures.
Pride at Mosaic, 3-6 p.m. Mosaic District, 2905 District Avenue, Merrifield
Tommy McFly will host an afternoon featuring live music from Hall Pass and Tara Hoot’s “Fabulous Fun Story Time Show,” which combines stories and songs.
Pride Trivia Night, 7 p.m. Audacious Aleworks Brewery, 110 East Fairfax Street, Falls Church
Teams of up to seven players can compete in free trivia rounds covering LGBTQ history, fictional characters, symbols and other topics. Everyone is welcome.
June 7
Trek Fairfax Pride Ride, 10 a.m. Trek Bicycle, 10937 Fairfax Blvd., Fairfax City
Cyclists of all backgrounds are invited to join a relaxed group ride with family members, friends, neighbors or coworkers. Helmets are required, while lights and water are recommended. Snacks, drinks and free items will be offered while supplies last.
June 9
Pride Month Zine Workshop, 6:30-8 p.m. Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library, 7584 Leesburg Pike, Pimmit Hills
The NoVa Prism Center workshop will explore the history of zine culture and the tools and techniques used to create independent art and literary magazines. Participants will make a one-page zine, with examples and materials provided. Registration is required.
June 15
Pride Color Run, 6:30 p.m. Caboose Tavern, 520 Mill Street NE, Vienna
Participants are encouraged to arrive dressed in white for a color-filled run. Tickets will be available on the event day.
June 22
The Fab Facts: Pride Trivia, 7-8:30 p.m. Martha Washington Library, 6614 Fort Hunt Road, Groveton
The library will test participants’ knowledge of LGBTQ history and pop culture, with Pride-themed prizes available to win.
June 25
Bennie and the Jets: Tribute to Elton John, 7 p.m. McLean Central Park, 1468 Dolley Madison Blvd., McLean
The McLean Community Center will mark Pride Month during its free summer concert series with an Elton John tribute. Performer Greg Ransom will bring the singer’s flamboyant style and showmanship to the stage.
June 27
Herndon Pride, noon-5 p.m. ArtsHerndon, 750 Center Street, Herndon
The community festival will offer live music, theater, local vendors and new activities. Children can also create their own projects in a hands-on art area designed around creativity and inclusion.
June 30
DIY Pride Tote Bags, 7-8 p.m. John Marshall Library, 6209 Rose Hill Drive, Rose Hill
Community members can design and decorate tote bags for carrying books, groceries or other supplies. Materials will be provided, and registration opens at 7 p.m. on June 16.
