Fairfax County Public Schools is advancing its comprehensive boundary review, with transportation findings expected in September and refined scenarios scheduled for public review this fall.

No boundary changes have been proposed for the 2025-26 school year.

The Superintendent’s Boundary Review Advisory Committee met Aug. 5 at the Gatehouse Administration Center to assess the process and narrow its priorities. Members reviewed an analysis of FCPS programs and the key themes identified so far.

Committee members then worked in subgroups before each group presented its three highest priorities. The discussion helped reveal common concerns across the committee.

The consultant leading the review also outlined the remaining timeline. Transportation analysis is expected to be presented at the committee’s next meeting in early September.

District leaders said the committee has about five months to develop a thoughtful plan. Members were urged to attend meetings in their communities when the next round of public sessions begins in mid-October and continues into November.

More Than 13,000 Comments Being Prepared

Comments collected through the Pigeonhole platform during spring community meetings are now available online and organized by region.

FCPS is also working to publish more than 13,000 comments submitted through the Boundary Explorer Tool and the district’s primary online communications system.

Feedback received through that communications platform will continue to be shared with the committee and consultant until 11:59 p.m. Aug. 20. The deadline is intended to give them time to consider the comments while developing the next draft scenarios.

Refined Scenarios Head to the Public This Fall

The consultant will update the Boundary Explorer Tool with refined scenarios before the Phase 2, Part 2 community meetings. Residents will be able to review those options and provide additional feedback.

Further boundary scenarios are expected to be developed in November and December. The advisory committee will review them and make final recommendations to district leadership.

Those recommendations will inform a proposed implementation plan scheduled for presentation to county education officials in January 2026.
