Fairfax County Public Schools is preparing to release a new draft boundary map for public review at community meetings in October.
Scenario 4 builds on three proposals presented in the spring: Neighborhood Connectivity, which addressed attendance islands; Cohort Continuity, focused on split feeders; and Comprehensive Balance, aimed at overcrowding.
The Superintendent’s Boundary Review Advisory Committee reviewed the emerging scenario during a September 24 meeting at the Gatehouse Administration Center. Members received an updated transportation analysis, examined proposed boundary changes by region and discussed how those changes could affect policy priorities.
Committee members then met in working groups to evaluate the draft and submit feedback.
The new scenario reflects priorities developed by the advisory committee after it considered public comments on the three earlier proposals. A consultant used those priorities to prepare Scenario 4.
FCPS plans to present the map at its October community boundary review meetings. The district also expects to add it to the Boundary Explorer Tool, where residents will be able to review the proposal and offer feedback at their convenience.
Until that update occurs, the Boundary Explorer Tool continues to display only the maps shared during the spring meetings.
