A 37-year-old Falls Church man is facing charges after police discovered the body of a 78-year-old woman inside a hotel room he refused to let officers enter.
Kyle Gosweiler has been charged with concealing a dead body and obstruction of justice following the July 14 discovery at the Sonesta Simply Suites on Hillwood Avenue. He is being held under bond at the Arlington County Detention Center.
Officers were dispatched to the hotel around 10:10 a.m. for a welfare check on a guest. When they arrived, Gosweiler denied them entry into the room. Once police gained access, they found the elderly woman dead inside.
Her identity is being withheld until family members are notified.
The Falls Church Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit has classified the death as suspicious based on factors observed at the scene. The Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy to determine how the woman died.
Police emphasized that their preliminary investigation indicates no ongoing threat to the community, though circumstances surrounding the death remain under active investigation.
