Fairfax County Public Schools has completed its investigation into allegations that Centreville High School personnel helped pay for and arrange abortions for students without parental knowledge or consent, finding no credible evidence of wrongdoing.

Superintendent Michelle C. Reid announced the findings Jan. 9, saying the allegations appeared to stem largely from statements that were misinterpreted, mistranslated, taken out of context or, in some instances, knowingly fabricated.

The school division began investigating after the accusations surfaced in 2025. Reid previously released interim findings in an Oct. 16 letter to the Centreville High School community. Those findings were also included in submissions to the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.

A supplemental submission summarizing the completed investigation was sent Jan. 9 to the Senate committee. FCPS also shared it with the Virginia State Police and the U.S. Department of Education.

Reid said the division cooperated with every related government inquiry and treated the allegations seriously because the conduct described would be unacceptable. However, the completed review found that Centreville High School employees and administrators had been publicly accused of criminal acts without a sound factual basis.

The superintendent said the accusations significantly affected the people involved and urged the school community to respond thoughtfully and compassionately. She added that FCPS remains focused on providing students with a safe, healthy and supportive learning environment.
