Fairfax County Public Schools has completed its investigation into allegations that a school social worker helped students obtain abortions, concluding that the claims were untrue.

Superintendent Michelle Reid informed Centreville High School families Friday that the completed review upheld the investigation’s initial findings. The allegations were based on statements that investigators determined had been misinterpreted, mistranslated, removed from context or, in some cases, knowingly fabricated.

Elsewhere in Northern Virginia, candidates competing in Tuesday’s firehouse primary for the Democratic nomination in Virginia’s 39th Senate District took questions during a packed public forum Monday night. The discussion covered the primary schedule, affordability, right-to-work laws and other issues.

Fairfax County is also reviving discussions about Unified Sanitation Districts. The Board of Supervisors deferred action on the proposal in August while officials considered alternatives. The county’s Department of Public Works and Environmental Services has now scheduled two public meetings to gather feedback.

Proposed FCPS boundary changes continue to draw concern. Dozens of parents and students gathered early Saturday at Luther Jackson Middle School in Falls Church to speak about the plans. School officials say the changes are intended to ease overcrowding and reduce the number of split feeder schools.

In Alexandria, three men face charges after a Jan. 6 traffic stop near Russell Road and Norwood Drive. Officers initially stopped a vehicle over a loud, modified exhaust, then seized firearms and found evidence connected to narcotics distribution, according to police.

Vienna-based figure skater Ilia Malinin, known as the “Quad God,” has secured a place at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games next month. U.S. Figure Skating announced the selection Sunday, one day after Malinin won gold at the national championships in St. Louis.

Falls Church will welcome Virginia’s first Grocery Outlet on Feb. 12. The store will occupy the former small-format Target space at 500 S. Washington Street and is expected to be the first of several Grocery Outlet locations planned across the state.

Retired Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom has sold his McLean mansion for $11 million. Backstrom, who returned to his native Sweden last year after a 17-season Capitals career, listed the property in April for $14.99 million.

Tuesday’s forecast calls for sunny skies, a high near 50 and light winds becoming southerly at 5 to 9 mph during the afternoon. Clouds will increase overnight as temperatures fall to around 40, with southwest winds of 8 to 11 mph and gusts as high as 20 mph.
