Northern Virginia’s first weekend in April brings a packed lineup of comedy, seasonal celebrations, live music and theatrical history. Here are five events scheduled across the area from Friday, April 3, through Sunday, April 5.
Christopher Titus: Doomed to Repeat
Comedian Christopher Titus brings his new touring show, “Doomed to Repeat,” to the State Theatre at 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 3.
The performance features Titus’ characteristically edgy style, mixing sharp comedy with poignant observations drawn from years of writing and performing.
The State Theatre is at 220 N. Washington St. in Falls Church.
Spring Fest
Families can celebrate the new season at Spring Fest from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 4, at the McLean Community Center.
The event will include spring-themed arts and crafts, an egg hunt and entertainment. Children can also pose for a photo with Bunny, with an OFC staff member available to take family pictures. Attendees should bring their own cameras.
The McLean Community Center is at 1234 Ingleside Ave. in McLean.
Cherry Blossom Spring Fling Market
Commonwealth Brewing Co. will host its Cherry Blossom Spring Fling Artisan Market from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 4.
One of the brewery’s largest markets of the year will feature artisans, fresh pours and live music from Devaney Brothers and Britton James. The drink lineup will include Usuzumi, a cherry blossom and black tea release, along with a Lychee Martini cocktail special.
Commonwealth Brewing Co. is at 10426 Main St. in Fairfax.
Anime, Video Game and K-Pop Music Meets Jazz
Familiar music from anime, video games and K-pop will receive a jazz makeover during a performance at Centreville Regional Library from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 4.
The program is expected to feature arrangements inspired by “KPop Demon Hunters,” Pokémon, Super Mario, “The Legend of Zelda” and other popular titles.
Centreville Regional Library is at 14200 St. Germain Drive in Centreville.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Life Takes the Stage
“All Things Equal: The Life and Trials of Ruth Bader Ginsburg” comes to Capital One Hall at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 5.
Over 90 minutes, the theatrical production presents Ginsburg speaking to a family friend in her chambers and reflecting on pivotal moments in her life. Those include losing her mother shortly before graduating as valedictorian from her Brooklyn high school, studying law at Harvard as one of nine women in her class, raising a daughter, helping her husband through cancer and fighting for women’s rights during the 1970s.
The show also explores her later role on the Supreme Court and her positions on human rights during an increasingly divided political era.
