Four Fairfax High School graduates received special recognition during the school’s June 5 graduation ceremony, with awards celebrating service, citizenship, scholarship and leadership.
Fairfax City Mayor Catherine Read presented the Service, Faculty and Fairfax awards, each of which included a scholarship from the city. Director of Student Services Ashley Anderson presented the Most Outstanding Senior award.
Service Award: Zane Geadah
Zane Geadah received the Service Award, which recognizes a senior for exceptional loyalty and service to Fairfax High.
Read described Geadah as curious, determined and outgoing, with empathy for classmates and staff and a leadership style centered on serving others.
As captain of the Science Olympiad team, Geadah guided more than 100 students through 23 events at national invitationals and statewide competitions. He also served as a student co-leader for Global Leaders of Fairfax County and vice president of the Computer Science Honors Society.
Geadah plans to attend Georgia Tech, where he will pursue his interest in engineering practical solutions to complex problems.
Faculty Award: Kat Pascual
Kat Pascual received the Faculty Award for outstanding loyalty, citizenship and service to Fairfax High.
Pascual brought enthusiasm, creativity and resilience to the classroom and made a particularly strong impact on the school’s Theater Department. Their leadership positions included president, marketing lead, Cappies critic, improv co-captain and social media head.
Read said Pascual led with compassion, inclusivity and respect for students and cultures. Pascual will attend the College of William & Mary in the fall.
Fairfax Award: Ainsley Buice
Ainsley Buice earned the Fairfax Award, which honors exceptional scholarship, loyalty, service and leadership.
Buice served as president of the Fairfax High Choir and baked more than 7,000 muffins to support people facing food insecurity in the community.
She also distinguished herself as an athlete. Buice holds Fairfax High’s all-time school record for the 2K rowing-machine event and ranks among the nation’s top 200 under-19 women rowers.
During four years as crew captain, she helped build a supportive but competitive team culture, contributed to doubling the varsity women’s roster and helped lead the program to notable finishes at state and national regattas. She will attend MIT.
Most Outstanding Senior: Vy Tran
Vy Tran was selected as Fairfax High’s Most Outstanding Senior, an honor decided by members of the graduating class.
The award recognizes the student who best represents the senior class, demonstrates dedication to the school and embodies the Fairfax spirit. Tran received an American flag that flew outside the school during the 2024-25 academic year.
Anderson praised Tran as a compassionate, positive and academically accomplished student. Tran served as varsity speech captain and president of both the Spanish Honor Society and Student Equity Team.
She also helped strengthen school spirit as lead coordinator of Fairfax High’s annual cultural celebration. Tran will continue her education at Brown University.
