Tysons is preparing for a summer of soccer with the return of COPA Tysons, featuring free watch parties, entertainment and community activities leading up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
The celebration begins Saturday, May 30, at Starr Hill Biergarten, 1805 Capital One Drive. The launch party will focus on the UEFA Champions League final between defending champion Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.
Broadcaster Dave Johnson and U.S. Soccer Hall of Famer Bruce Murray will host the event, which starts at 11 a.m. before the match kicks off at noon. Plans include music, fan activities, media appearances and opportunities to meet regional organizations and community partners.
Arsenal is making its first appearance in the Champions League final after securing its first English Premier League title in 22 years. Registration for the Tysons launch party is encouraged but not required.
The World Cup schedule at Starr Hill begins June 12, when the U.S. Men’s National Team faces Paraguay at 9 p.m. Fans can return for the match against Australia at 3 p.m. June 19 and the game against Turkey at 10 p.m. June 25.
Additional watch-party dates and times will be announced as the tournament advances toward the championship match on July 19.
Organizers say the series will offer large indoor and outdoor viewing areas with high-quality broadcasts. Select matches will also feature live DJs and entertainment, interactive games, giveaways, food and drink specials, family-friendly fan zones and other activities.
“This summer, COPA Tysons will bring fans from across the DMV together at Starr Hill Biergarten and additional Tysons’ premier gathering spaces — to experience the excitement, passion, and communal energy that make the World Cup unlike any other sporting event in the world,” Tysons Community Alliance interim CEO Drew Sunderland said.
This year’s program will also include events connected to the nation’s 250th anniversary in partnership with Fairfax 250.
COPA Tysons began in 2024 with gatherings tied to the Copa América and UEFA European Championship tournaments. Its 2025 centerpiece was Soccer Fest, which included a community tournament for adults.
Starr Hill Biergarten is separate from Tysons Biergarten, which operates at the Shipgarten venue in Scotts Run.
