The Fairfax Symphony Orchestra will bring How to Train Your Dragon to Capital One Hall in Tysons for a live-to-film performance on Saturday, March 14, at 7 p.m.
During the concert, the complete DreamWorks animated adventure will be shown in high definition while the orchestra performs composer John Powell’s Academy Award-nominated score live. Jason Seber will conduct the performance, which is intended for audiences of all ages.
The film follows Hiccup, a young Viking who breaks with his community’s traditions after encountering a dragon considered one of his people’s deadliest enemies. Instead of treating the creature as a foe, Hiccup befriends him and gives him the name Toothless.
Their unexpected bond places the pair at the center of a struggle affecting both Vikings and dragons. Hiccup and Toothless must overcome steep odds as they work to save their respective worlds.
The concert presentation combines the movie’s humor, fire-breathing action and large-scale adventure with Powell’s score performed in person by the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra. Tickets and additional event information are available through the orchestra’s website.
