Metro is recruiting experienced bus mechanics for an invitation-only hiring event Saturday, March 28, with qualified candidates potentially eligible for sign-on bonuses of up to $7,000.

Applications for the Automotive Service Technician positions must be submitted through Metro’s careers website by 11:59 p.m. March 26. Late applications will not be considered for the event.

Recruiters will review each applicant’s experience and qualifications. Candidates who meet the position’s minimum requirements will receive an invitation with the time and other details for an in-person interview. Because Metro expects a high volume of applications, only qualified applicants will be contacted.

Metro General Manager and CEO Randy Clarke said the agency is seeking experienced technicians to help operate its bus fleet safely and reliably. He described the jobs as critical to daily transit service throughout the region.

The positions include competitive pay, health insurance, a retirement plan, advancement opportunities and free Metro transportation, in addition to the potential signing bonus for eligible recommended candidates.

Applicants should visit Metro’s careers website, open the job listings and select “Automotive Service Technician.” After reviewing the requirements, candidates must create an account and submit an online application for recruiter evaluation.

Although the March 28 event is limited to automotive service technicians, Metro recruits throughout the year for other essential positions, including bus operators and Metro Transit Police officers.
