More than 1,000 families, students and community members visited Fairfax County Public Schools’ new western high school during an open house Saturday, Oct. 25.
The modern campus occupies the former King Abdullah Academy site. Its facilities include a theater, science laboratories, gyms, a full-size heated pool and outdoor gathering spaces designed to support collaboration and hands-on learning.
Visitors toured the building and offered feedback on whether the campus should operate as a comprehensive high school or a magnet program.
Attendees also examined several preliminary boundary-map scenarios, which are expected to be posted online soon. Questions from families covered possible athletic programs, advanced learning opportunities and other elements of student life.
The Oct. 25 event was an early step toward determining how the new school will serve students in western Fairfax County.
