Oakton High’s young girls gymnastics team extended its Concorde District reign, narrowly defeating Chantilly to capture a fifth consecutive championship.

The Cougars finished with 139.625 points, just 0.45 ahead of the Chargers’ 139.175. Madison placed third with 137.025, followed by Westfield at 136.075, South Lakes at 134.6 and Centreville at 119.675.

Oakton placed four gymnasts among the top eight in the all-around despite having five underclassmen among its top seven competitors.

Freshman Elsha Chi led the Cougars by finishing second in the all-around with 35.625 points. She earned second place on vault with a 9.3 and balance beam with a 9.35, then took third on floor exercise with a 9.2.

Sophomore Tessa Gay placed fifth in the all-around at 34.7. She finished third on vault with a 9.25 and sixth on beam with an 8.7.

Junior Bella Roselle followed in sixth place with a 34.575 all-around total. Roselle won the floor exercise with a 9.35 and tied for third on beam at 9.025.

Senior Nyla Williams placed eighth in the all-around with 34.2 points. She shared third place on beam with Roselle and finished fourth on uneven bars with an 8.4.

Oakton junior Lindsey Liang took 22nd in the all-around with a 32.158. Junior Caroline Curtis and senior Abby Cribbs also competed for the Cougars.

Chantilly senior Alli Booker won the all-around championship with 36.275 points. Booker captured vault with a 9.75 and uneven bars with a 9.125, placed second on floor with a 9.225 and finished 13th on beam with an 8.175.

The Chargers also received an 11th-place all-around finish from sophomore Mazzie Cox, who scored 34.05. Lauren Lattanze tied for 16th at 33.375, while Michaela Turner placed 18th with 33.325.

Chantilly’s Emma Saunders finished fifth on beam with a 9.0, Adison Zampiello took seventh on bars with an 8.125, Lattanze placed 10th on beam with an 8.475 and Sabirah Smith Bey tied for 10th on floor with an 8.9.

Madison’s Charlotte Feigin placed third in the all-around at 35.275. She won beam with a 9.5, tied for sixth on floor with a 9.0 and finished eighth on bars with an 8.1.

Teammate Lydia Shaw took seventh in the all-around with 34.225 points. Shaw placed fourth on floor with a 9.1, seventh on vault with an 8.8 and ninth on beam with an 8.5. Madison’s Leanna Zaccack finished fifth on vault at 8.875 and tied for 10th on floor at 8.9.

Westfield’s Jenna Van Buren placed fourth in the all-around with 34.725, while teammate Amaya Wilkins finished ninth at 34.175. Van Buren also took second on bars with an 8.5, fourth on vault with a 9.0 and fifth on floor with a 9.025.

South Lakes gymnast Milly Navarro rounded out the all-around top 10 with a 34.15. Teammate Mithra Venkatesan finished third on bars with an 8.45.
