Fairfax County Public Schools has hired an outside law firm to conduct an independent review of serious physical assault allegations involving multiple students at Fairfax High School.
Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid announced March 23 that McGuireWoods will examine what happened, when it occurred and whether all applicable policies, procedures and regulations were followed.
Law enforcement has confirmed that a student was arrested and charged in connection with the allegations. FCPS is continuing to cooperate with investigators but said it cannot release additional details while the investigation remains active and student privacy protections apply.
Reid said she requested the independent review the previous Wednesday. She also emphasized that all FCPS employees are mandatory reporters who receive annual training on recognizing and reporting student safety concerns.
Students and families with information can submit an anonymous report to the FCPS Office of Safety and Security online, by text or by phone. They may also contact the Fairfax City Police Department at 703-385-7924.
