Fairfax County transportation officials will unveil proposed changes to Route 29 inside the Beltway during a community meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

The in-person meeting will take place at Timber Lane Elementary School, 2737 West St. in Falls Church. The Fairfax County Department of Transportation will present potential improvements, including sidewalks, bicycle paths, transit stops and street crossings.

Residents and commuters can review the proposals, ask questions and share feedback. A survey will also be available after the meeting.

The Route 29 Active Transportation Study seeks to make the corridor more comfortable for pedestrians and bicyclists, improve connections across the roadway and expand access to public transit. Another goal is to reinforce that drivers must share the corridor with all users.

Spanish interpretation will be available at the meeting. Information about the study, including a recap of a November 2025 public workshop, is available on the county’s Route 29 Active Transportation Study webpage.
