Principal Amy Briggs is preparing for her 34th first day at Spring Hill Elementary School, continuing a connection that began when she entered the school as a kindergartener.
Briggs attended Spring Hill through sixth grade and remembers feeling safe, supported and deeply connected to its community. The experience inspired her to become an educator and eventually return to the school.
She began working at Spring Hill as a substitute for her former sixth-grade teacher. She later completed her student teaching there and became a fifth-grade teacher.
Briggs continued serving the school in several roles, including school-based technology specialist and assistant principal. She was named principal in 2023.
Now, Briggs said she still feels genuine excitement at the start of a new academic year. She hopes to give today’s students the same sense of belonging and care that shaped her own childhood.
Briggs said it is an honor to help students grow and that she finds joy in watching children arrive eager to learn each day.
