A Springfield man who worked as a tax preparer and museum guide has been convicted on child sexual abuse material charges after admitting to possessing approximately 4 million illicit images.
Nathaniel Lee, 39, was found guilty Monday following a bench trial on three counts related to his possession of the material. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 6.
Investigation Began in 2022
The case against Lee originated in December 2022 when police discovered he was requesting child sex abuse images through Freenet, a file-sharing network.
Authorities executed a search warrant at Lee’s residence in June 2024, seizing multiple electronic devices. Investigators found what prosecutors described as a “large volume” of images and videos depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
During the investigation, Lee admitted to possessing around 4 million images of child sexual abuse material, according to prosecutors.
Lee had been working as a tax preparer and served as a guide at the Franconia Museum prior to his arrest.
