Investigations by the Virginia State Police and the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions have closed without finding evidence of wrongdoing at Centreville High School, Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Michelle C. Reid announced June 16.
The inquiries examined allegations made in 2025 that school personnel had helped arrange and pay for abortions for students without their parents’ knowledge or consent. Reid said FCPS cooperated fully and stressed that such conduct would be unacceptable within the school division.
An investigation by FCPS external counsel had already found no credible evidence of wrongdoing by school employees or administrators. In a Jan. 9, 2026, letter to the school community, Reid said that review determined the allegations were largely rooted in statements that had been misinterpreted, mistranslated, removed from context or, in some instances, knowingly fabricated.
Reid said the state police and Senate committee investigations also concluded without identifying evidence of misconduct or a need for further action.
The allegations and resulting inquiries significantly affected those involved, according to Reid, who called for the community to respond thoughtfully, honestly and compassionately. She said the school division remains focused on providing every student with a safe, healthy and supportive learning environment.
