A 56-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of Marvin Waters during an altercation at a Groveton bus stop on June 10.
Metro Transit Police officers located and detained Robert Reed, who has no fixed address, at the Huntington Metro Station. Mount Vernon District officers then took him into custody.
Detectives linked Reed to the stabbing through their investigation. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with second-degree murder and two counts of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I or II drugs. He is being held without bond.
Officers were called to Richmond Highway and North Kings Highway at approximately 1:55 p.m. on June 10. They found Waters, 32, in the road with multiple stab wounds to his upper body.
Police provided emergency aid until fire and rescue personnel arrived. Waters, who also had no fixed address, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced dead.
The suspect had left before officers reached the scene. Detectives preliminarily determined that the stabbing followed an altercation between Reed and Waters at a bus stop and described the incident as isolated.
