Ruth’s Chris Steak House brings its signature sizzling steaks to 8521 Leesburg Pike in Tysons, near Spring Hill Road. The upscale restaurant serves USDA Prime beef broiled at 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit, then presented on 500-degree plates designed to keep each cut hot through the final bite.
The steakhouse traces its roots to 1965, when divorced mother Ruth Fertel purchased Chris’ Steak House in New Orleans to help fund her sons’ college education. After a fire forced her to relocate, contractual restrictions led her to rename the business Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
The concept has since expanded to more than 100 locations worldwide. Its trademark preparation remains central to the Tysons menu.
Diners can choose from filet mignon, New York strip and ribeye, along with larger cuts such as the tomahawk ribeye, cowboy ribeye and porterhouse. Optional additions include lobster tail, grilled shrimp, Béarnaise sauce and a blue cheese crust.
Seafood choices include garlic-crusted sea bass and salmon. The barbecued shrimp appetizer reflects the restaurant’s New Orleans origins, while side dishes range from lobster macaroni and cheese and creamed spinach to au gratin potatoes.
Desserts include Chocolate Sin Cake, crème brûlée and cheesecake.
Dark wood, soft lighting, white linens and a business-casual-to-dressy atmosphere give the Tysons dining room a traditional steakhouse feel. Service is generally polished and attentive, though the pace and consistency can vary during crowded evenings. Reservations, particularly for peak dining times, are recommended.
The location also offers private rooms for birthdays, anniversaries, corporate meetings, rehearsal dinners and holiday parties. Event services can include customized multicourse menus, wine pairings and room setup for gatherings ranging from about eight to 50 guests.
The experience comes at a premium. Entrées commonly cost more than $50, and dinner for two with drinks, appetizers and dessert can exceed $200.
Reservations and restaurant information are available through Ruth’s Chris. Private-event inquiries for the Tysons location can be made at 703-848-4290.
