The Vienna Police Department will accept expired, unused and unwanted medications during the 30th National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 25.
Residents can anonymously drop off eligible items from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the department, 215 Center St. S. in Vienna.
Medications may remain in their original containers, but prescription bottles should have all personal and identifying information removed. Liquid products must be sealed in their original containers to prevent leaks.
Vape pens and other electronic cigarette devices will also be accepted if their batteries have been removed. Intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes cannot be collected because of safety hazards, although EpiPens are permitted.
During the previous collection in October 2025, Vienna Police received 148 pounds of medication from residents. The drugs were transferred to the Virginia State Police for proper disposal.
The event is being held in partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Virginia State Police. More information is available from the Vienna Police Department at 703-255-7846.
