Fairfax County Public Library is marking Women’s History Month with events celebrating women who influenced the county, the nation and the world during America’s 250-year history.

The all-ages lineup includes historical presentations, storytimes, crafts, games, music and films at branches across Fairfax County. Dates and times may change, so attendees should check individual event listings for updates.

At Burke Centre Library on Saturday, March 7, school-age children can learn about notable American women scientists and test their engineering skills during “STEAM Team — Celebrating Women Who Shaped America.”

Dolley Madison Library will host “Tea with Dolley Tea Party” that same day, bringing Dolley Madison to her namesake branch for an afternoon of tea and family-friendly activities.

Sherwood Regional Library’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” dance party on Monday, March 9, will feature songs written by women for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.

Also on March 9, historian and author Alice Reagan will visit George Mason Regional Library to explain how the women’s suffrage movement unfolded in Fairfax County.

Kings Park Library will offer Women’s History Month Bingo on Friday, March 13. The all-ages game will introduce participants to famous women from history, with prizes available.

On Saturday, March 14, John Marshall Library will present the story of Clara Barton and her humanitarian work locating missing soldiers after the Civil War.

Lorton Library’s senior movie program will screen the 1992 film “A League of Their Own” during lunch on Friday, March 20. The movie offers a fictionalized account of the first women’s professional baseball league.

Community women’s chorus Capital Harmonia will perform at several branches on various dates, highlighting American female composers and their music.

Chantilly Regional Library will welcome a portrayal of “Little Women” author Louisa May Alcott on Wednesday, March 25. The program will explore Alcott’s life and include an opportunity for questions.

The month’s featured events conclude Tuesday, March 31, at Herndon Fortnightly Library with “Female Patriots of the American Revolution Live!” The program will introduce women from the nation’s early years and examine their roles in the Revolutionary War.
