More than 2,300 people representing about 800 families registered for a packed Jan. 11 open house at the new western high school.
Prospective students and their families attended three one-hour sessions to tour the campus, speak with school system staff and learn what to expect when the school opens for the 2026-27 academic year.
Principal Dave Jagels began each session with a presentation outlining the school’s vision and plans for its inaugural year.
The school will offer pathways focused on aerospace sciences, artificial intelligence, and advanced technology and innovation. Hands-on learning will cover robotics, drones, aviation, machine learning and digital fabrication. Students will also have opportunities to earn professional certifications and participate in internships.
Staff members representing instruction, transportation, athletics, student activities, human resources, communications and other departments answered families’ questions throughout the event.
During the first year, rising ninth- and 10th-grade students living in the Centreville, Chantilly, Oakton, South Lakes and Westfield pyramids may opt to attend. The school will have room for 500 ninth graders and 500 10th graders.
A vote on the school’s name is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 12.
