More than 2,300 prospective students and family members registered to tour Fairfax County’s new western high school during a packed open house on January 11.
Representing about 800 families, visitors attended one of three hourlong sessions to explore the campus, meet Fairfax County Public Schools staff and learn what students can expect when the school opens for the 2026-27 academic year.
Principal Dave Jagels began each session with an overview of the school’s vision and inaugural year.
The school will offer pathways centered on aerospace sciences, artificial intelligence, and advanced technology and innovation. Planned hands-on learning includes robotics, drones, aviation, machine learning and digital fabrication. Students will also have opportunities to pursue professional certifications and internships.
Staff from across FCPS answered families’ questions, including representatives from transportation, athletics and student activities, instructional services, human resources, communications, school leadership, planning, learning, and community engagement.
During the first year, rising ninth- and 10th-grade students who live in the Centreville, Chantilly, Oakton, South Lakes and Westfield pyramids may opt to attend. The school has space for 500 students in each grade.
The Fairfax County School Board is scheduled to vote on the school’s name Thursday, February 12.
