Capital One Center is welcoming spring with a 3,000-egg Easter hunt, a color run and an expanded lineup of activities stretching from The Perch to Metro Park.
The celebration will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4. Children will begin searching the Great Lawn at The Perch at 11 a.m., while other attractions include a petting zoo, an Easter Bunny meet-and-greet, goat yoga, face painting, a bounce house and an adult paint-and-sip class.
This year, more of the festivities will take place at street level instead of being concentrated at the elevated Perch. The petting zoo and Easter Bunny appearance will move to Metro Park, the plaza near the McLean Metro station entrance that opened late last year.
The day starts with a one-mile Color Fun Run at 9:30 a.m. Participants can run or walk through the course while being showered with colored powder. Organizers ask attendees to arrive by 9:15 a.m.
The egg hunt follows at 11 a.m., with participating children asked to arrive by 10:45 a.m. The Metro Park petting zoo and Easter Bunny meet-and-greet will begin at the same time.
A paint-and-sip class starts at 11:30 a.m., alongside face painting and the bounce house. Goat yoga begins at 11:45 a.m., and participants must bring their own mats. A Wolf Trap Animal Rescue puppy party is scheduled for noon.
Tickets are required for the Color Fun Run, paint-and-sip class and goat yoga. Only children taking part in the egg hunt need hunt tickets, priced at $20 plus a $3.18 Eventbrite fee.
Individual goat yoga tickets and a package combining goat yoga with the Color Fun Run were sold out as of the latest availability check. Tickets remained for other activities, including a Color Fun Run and Paint & Sip package costing $44.52 with fees.
Businesses throughout the development will also participate. Nothing in Between plans to offer free express manicures, while Sisters Thai’s Flore Cafe will operate a pop-up serving hot chocolate, artisan gelato and coffee.
Cherry blossom flavors arrive across Capital One Center
Restaurants, retailers and hotels at Capital One Center are introducing limited-time spring offerings, many inspired by cherry blossoms.
Capital One Hall is serving the Capital Cherry throughout the season, combining rum, Luxardo, lime, syrup, cherry and coconut puree. Nothing in Between is offering spring and cherry blossom nail art.
Sisters Thai will serve its Pink Kimono cocktail, made with Haku vodka and sakura syrup, through April 12. Flore Cafe is marking its first anniversary with a reservation-only, 14-course “Flore in Bloom” high tea.
The Watermark Hotel has introduced discounted rooms through a “Stay in Bloom” package. At Wren Tysons, specials available through April 5 include a Hanami Bento Box featuring king salmon and ikura chirashi, chicken, mixed greens and a mochi doughnut, as well as a Fresh Start cocktail.
Stellina Tysons is pouring cherry blossom negronis and spritzes throughout the season. The Naisho Room, the speakeasy-style lounge inside the Watermark, is adding seasonal dishes and drinks and will hold a Japanese ’80s Pop Turntable Listening Event from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 1.
Reservations are required for that event, which will pair a cherry blossom-themed dinner service with samples of seasonal House of Suntory cocktails.
Outdoor attractions prepare to reopen
Perch Putt, the rooftop miniature golf course accompanied by food trucks, is scheduled to reopen Thursday, March 26.
Pickleball courts are also set to replace Metro Park’s ice rink. Capital One Center’s website indicates the courts at 1820 Capital One Drive South could open March 31, although an official opening date has not been announced. An online court-reservation system is expected to launch soon.
Elsewhere in Tysons, Tysons Corner Center began its month-long “Center in Bloom” campaign Friday, March 20. Its “Blossom Bash,” an official National Cherry Blossom Festival event, is scheduled for Sunday, March 29, with a retail market, entertainment and a live chalk-art contest on the Plaza.
