Homestretch has joined with the John and Eden Foundation and Dr. Hyun Lee to provide 5,000 pieces of clothing to families across Northern Virginia.

The Falls Church nonprofit hosted the “Tiny Threads, Big Impact” event as the region prepared for a weekend of bitterly cold weather. The donated items, including children’s pajamas and women’s undergarments, came from Lee and her family in South Korea.

Homestretch is acting as the central distribution hub, allowing partner organizations to collect the clothing and deliver it to families throughout the area.

Barfonce Baldwin, executive director of Homestretch, said the partnership will help essential items reach people who need them most. She thanked Lee, her family and the John and Eden Foundation for supporting local families and the broader community.

Based at 303 S. Maple Ave. in Falls Church, Homestretch assists hundreds of Northern Virginia families each year. Its program combines stable housing with financial guidance, career development and life-skills support to help parents and children transition from homelessness to permanent housing.

The organization said that work is becoming increasingly important as affordable housing moves beyond the reach of more families in the region.

Founded in 1990, Homestretch is a nonprofit offering families supportive housing and a comprehensive two-year program focused on financial stability, health, careers and daily living skills. Families complete the program by moving into permanent housing they can afford with their own income.

According to Homestretch, 95 percent of its graduates remain housed and employed long after finishing the program.
