Alexandria Gala Raises $185,000 for Older Adults

More than 400 guests packed the Westin Alexandria Old Town Hotel ballroom on March 29 as Senior Services of Alexandria raised over $185,000 at its sold-out annual gala.

More than 400 guests packed the Westin Alexandria Old Town Hotel ballroom on March 29 as Senior Services of Alexandria raised over $185,000 at its sold-out annual gala.

The event celebrated the organization’s 57 years of service to Alexandria and recognized residents whose community work has improved the lives of older adults.

Executive Director Mary Lee Anderson missed the gala for the first time after breaking her ankle in a fall. She credited the organization’s staff with ensuring the evening ran smoothly despite her absence.

The 2025 Community Service Awards went to Jack Fannon, Jane King and retired Col. Jim Paige. Lucelle O’Flaherty received the Community Spirit Award.

This year’s silent auction was held virtually for the first time, allowing participants to bid online or in person. The gala also featured a limited-ticket raffle for a chance to see Billy Joel and Sting perform at Nationals Park in September.

Benchmark at Alexandria served as the event’s presenting sponsor.
