Alexandria’s observance of National Police Week 2026 included a solemn tribute to local law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty.

Members of the Alexandria Police Department, the Sheriff’s Office and the Alexandria Retired Police, Fire and Sheriff Association joined community members May 7 at the Fallen Officers Memorial in Waterfront Park.

During the ceremony, a wreath was placed at the memorial in remembrance of Alexandria’s fallen officers. The gathering offered participants an opportunity to reflect on the officers’ public service, the sacrifices they made and the impact of their deaths on the community.

The Waterfront Park commemoration was one of several events organized across the city during Alexandria Police Week. The broader observance also featured additional wreath-laying ceremonies and memorial services honoring law enforcement personnel who lost their lives while serving Alexandria.
