Alexandria residents with individual or family incomes below $67,000 may qualify for free tax preparation at the Del Pepper Community Resource Center, 4850 Mark Center Drive.

The service is available through April 19 on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon and Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 202-830-1480 for English or 202-869-2999 for Spanish. A limited number of walk-in spaces are also available.

Community Tax Aid, Inc. volunteers will prepare returns, provide electronic filing and help taxpayers claim applicable deductions and credits. That includes the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit, which some eligible residents may not realize they can receive.

Information about eligibility and required documents, along with flyers in English and Spanish, is available at alexandriava.gov/DCHS.

The resource center is about a five-minute walk from the Mark Center Transit Station and is served by DASH. Riders can find DASH schedules at dashbus.com or by calling 703-370-DASH (3274). Metrobus information is available at wmata.com or 202-637-7000.

Tax preparation will be canceled if weather conditions cause Alexandria city services to close. Updates will be posted at alexandriava.gov/Calendar and alexandriava.gov.
