Alexandria’s annual Senior Law Day will bring estate planners, financial professionals and senior-resource specialists together June 7 to address the mental, physical, financial and legal challenges of aging.
The free public event runs from 9 a.m. to noon at First Baptist Church, 2932 King Street. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
A caregiving panel will examine ways to support aging friends and relatives while protecting their dignity. Chris Leighton of Hughes & Leighton PLLC will moderate the discussion, featuring Heidi Travis and Ashley Wembley of ElderTree Care Management.
Another panel will focus on older adults’ financial needs and how families can navigate them. Seth Royster of Shannon & Wright LLP will moderate, with perspectives from Andrew White of Atlantic Union Financial Consultants and elder-law attorney Sally Hurme, author of “Wise Moves.”
Estate-planning attorneys Gretchyn Meinken of Friedman Grimes Meinken & Leishner, PLLC, and Elizabeth Crego of Legal Services of Northern Virginia will discuss estate planning and essential legal documents.
Local attorneys, health care companies and city organizations will also provide information and resources for older adults and those helping with their care and planning.
