Bren Mar Park Elementary School in Alexandria is safe for students to return after a fire broke out Sunday afternoon. The cause remains under investigation, but the fire marshal determined that classes could resume Monday without disruption.

Flowers were placed outside the closed office of Dr. Cerina Fairfax, whom police said was killed by her husband, former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax. Patients and others who knew Cerina Fairfax remembered her as caring and bright.

Capitals players visit Tysons

New bagel shop arrives in Vienna
Bagel Street has opened on Maple Avenue in Vienna with a wide-ranging selection shaped partly by co-founder Jenny Liu’s Chinese American heritage. Liu launched the shop with her husband, Julio Santana, who is Dominican.
Cybersecurity deal follows Reston startup’s launch
Lansdowne-based cybersecurity assessment company Fortreum LLC has acquired Kovr.ai, a Reston software developer that helps federal contractors secure cybersecurity compliance approvals.
The deal was announced less than a year after former Amazon Web Services executives Andrew Black and Sri Iyer officially launched Kovr.ai.
Reston man scores $100,000 lottery prize
Bharat Chatani of Reston won $100,000 from an online Powerball ticket purchased for the March 16 drawing.
Chatani matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball, ordinarily worth $50,000. His prize was doubled to $100,000.
Stoneybrooke Park courts closing for upgrades
The tennis and basketball courts at Stoneybrooke Park in Groveton will close beginning Wednesday, April 22, for renovations.
The project will bring new playing surfaces, goals and fencing, along with additional gravel to improve drainage. Parking will be limited during construction, which is expected to finish in early July if weather permits.
Monday brings sun, wind and a chilly night
Monday will be mostly sunny with scattered sprinkles and a high near 55 degrees. Northwest winds of 13 to 15 mph could gust as high as 26 mph.
Skies should become mostly clear overnight as the temperature falls to around 34 degrees. North winds will range from 6 to 9 mph.
