Alexandria residents can help shape the city’s housing affordability targets during a virtual Housing 2040 discussion on Wednesday, July 30, beginning at 7 p.m.

The Alexandria Housing Affordability Advisory Committee will host the meeting as the city updates its Housing Master Plan through 2040. The process will establish new affordability goals and evaluate policies, programs and tools intended to support Alexandria residents and workers.

The update builds on the 2013 Housing Master Plan, which set housing principles, goals and strategies through 2025. Housing 2040 began with a Housing Needs Assessment and has included community meetings and panel discussions about preservation, guiding principles and other housing issues.

Participants must register online to attend through Zoom. Interpretation services must be requested by July 24 by calling 703-764-3084. Disability accommodations are available by calling 703-746-3089 or Virginia Relay 711.

Earlier Housing 2040 presentations and meeting recordings are available through the city’s housing planning website.
