A 25-year-old Arlington woman faces a felony charge after a pedestrian was critically injured in an early-morning hit-and-run crash on Arlington Boulevard on March 1.
Police identified the suspected driver as Valeria Galdo Camacho and charged her with felony hit and run.
Police and fire crews responded to N. Irving Street and Arlington Boulevard at approximately 12:39 a.m. They found an adult man in the roadway with critical injuries.
Medics treated the pedestrian at the scene before taking him to an area hospital. He remained in critical but stable condition.
Investigators believe Camacho was traveling east on Arlington Boulevard when her vehicle struck the man. She allegedly drove away after the collision, then surrendered at the Magistrate’s Office at approximately 11 a.m.

Suspect arrested in separate Bluemont hit-and-run
Police also announced an arrest in a December 2025 crash that seriously injured two men in the Bluemont area.
Zai Atwater, 24, of Washington, D.C., is charged with malicious wounding, two counts of hit and run, assault and battery, reckless driving, and driving while suspended. He is being held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Facility.
The incident began while Atwater and another driver were traveling east on Interstate 66 on Dec. 18, 2025, according to investigators. The two became involved in a dispute, and Atwater allegedly followed the other driver after he exited the highway.
At approximately 7:17 p.m., the other driver parked near N. Glebe Road and N. Wakefield Street, left his vehicle and began walking. Investigators allege Atwater accelerated and struck him with his vehicle.
As Atwater fled, he allegedly struck a second man who was not involved in the dispute and was crossing N. Wakefield Street in a crosswalk.
Both victims were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening. They were later released.
Authorities found and recovered the suspect vehicle in Washington, D.C., that evening. Detectives later obtained evidence identifying Atwater as the driver, secured arrest warrants and took him into custody in Washington. He was subsequently extradited to Virginia.
