A reported gunpoint carjacking in Annandale led police onto Interstate 495 and ended with a driver’s arrest in Tysons on Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Fairfax County police responded around 7:32 p.m. to the 7000 block of Columbia Pike. The location was initially reported as a Burger King before officers were directed to 7037 Columbia Pike near the Juke Box Diner.

Police said the victims reported that a man displayed a gun and ordered them out of their 2020 Chevrolet Trax. He allegedly drove away before officers arrived. No injuries were reported.

Officers later spotted the vehicle traveling north on I-495 and pursued it into Tysons. Police stopped the Trax at Galleria Drive and International Drive, taking the driver into custody around 7:42 p.m. A gun was recovered.

The 24-year-old driver was charged with carjacking and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
