Reston Town Center is adding six restaurants, shops and wellness businesses, led by the expansion of Clarity, an acclaimed upscale American restaurant based in Vienna.
Property owner and developer BXP announced the new leases Wednesday, describing them as a mix of local and national businesses. Clarity will open at 1996 Opportunity Way in the town center’s expanded district near the Reston Town Center Metro station.
The Reston restaurant will be a second location rather than a replacement for Clarity’s Vienna operation, an investor confirmed.
Clarity opened in 2015 under chef Jon Krinn and has since earned multiple RAMMY Awards. Northern Virginia Magazine also ranked it among the region’s 50 best restaurants last year. Krinn departed in 2022 and now operates Elyse in Fairfax City.
Clarity’s frequently changing menu is now designed by chef Matthew Cockrell, a Vienna native with experience at French restaurants throughout the Washington area. Recent dinner offerings included Hudson Valley foie gras with onion, a $60 prime New York strip steak and Wester Ross Scottish salmon.
Owner Viswa Vasireddy said Reston Town Center’s combination of offices, homes and destination-focused development made it an attractive place to expand.
More businesses headed to the expansion
Three other newly announced tenants will join Clarity in the newer section of Reston Town Center:
- Toastique will open at 11990 Inspiration Street, serving gourmet toast, acai bowls, cold-pressed smoothies, wellness shots, juices and coffee.
- Yunnan by Potomac Noodle House will occupy 1975 Opportunity Way. The upscale Chinese restaurant specializes in mixian rice-noodle bowls with braised meats, broths and sauces, along with bao buns, jiaozi dumplings and shaokao barbecue.
- iCryo will open at 12000 Inspiration Street with services including cryotherapy, red-light therapy, infrared saunas, IV infusions and compression therapy.
Located south of Bluemont Way, the expansion is bringing 60,000 square feet of additional retail space to the area. It also includes two office buildings, the recently completed Skymark apartments, and Marriott’s AC Hotel and Residence Inn, which opened in January.
New arrivals in the original town center
Urbi Goods, a boutique jewelry retailer with an existing Ashburn location, plans to open a 935-square-foot shop beside Jinya at 11962 Market Street. It will replace Lou Lou, which closed its Reston boutique at the end of 2023.
MidnighTreats has also signed a lease to relocate from Plaza America to 1826 Discovery Street. BXP did not announce opening dates for the six businesses, though founder and owner Johnny Nguyen said late last year that MidnighTreats was targeting late spring 2025.
BXP Vice President of Retail Leasing Stephanie Friedman said the incoming businesses reflect Reston Town Center’s continued growth and evolution.
Women’s clothing boutique Evereve opened at 11928 Market Street in early February. Shake Shack, Corsica Wine Bar and Kusshi Sushi are also expected to arrive this year.
Indochen, an Alexandria-based Asian fusion restaurant, is separately aiming for a June or July opening inside the Hyatt Regency building at 1800 President Street, according to owner Kumar KC.
