Braddock District voters will choose between Tom F. Dannan and Saundra T. Davis in a March 3 special election for the Fairfax County School Board.

The election follows the resignation of Rachna Sizemore Heizer. Only Braddock District residents may vote. The winner will serve the remainder of the term, which ends in December 2027.

Early in-person voting continues through Feb. 28 at the Fairfax County Government Center and Burke Centre Library.

Dannan, a small-business owner and former PTA president, has also worked as a substitute teacher and served as a Peace Corps volunteer. His campaign emphasizes strengthening public education, supporting teachers and expanding opportunities for Fairfax County students.

His endorsements include the Fairfax County Democratic Committee, Board of Supervisors Chairman Jeff McKay, Braddock District Supervisor Rachna Sizemore Heizer and U.S. Rep. James Walkinshaw.

Davis holds a master’s degree in health care administration and previously worked as a memory-care community director. She currently serves on a state-level body operating under the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services.

Her platform centers on parental rights, fiscal accountability and support for the Virginia High School League’s policy governing boys’ and girls’ sports. She is endorsed by the Fairfax County Republican Committee.

Davis previously ran as a Republican for the Virginia House of Delegates in 2025 and sought an at-large Fairfax County School Board seat in 2023.
