Kajiken has opened in Idylwood Plaza, bringing its signature brothless ramen to a shopping center undergoing a wave of tenant changes.
The restaurant began serving diners Monday, Jan. 13, at 7505-D Leesburg Pike. It replaces Bing & Bao, which closed in August after four years in the space.
Kajiken’s menu currently includes 10 varieties of abura soba. Instead of broth, the thick, house-made noodles are served with a sauce combining soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, chili oil and other seasonings.
Traditional ramen and four kinds of donburi, or Japanese rice bowls, are also available.
The Idylwood restaurant is Kajiken’s second Virginia location and eighth in the United States. The chain opened its first Virginia outpost late last year at Pinecrest Plaza in Lincolnia.
Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday, according to the restaurant’s soft-opening announcement.
Kajiken joins several businesses reshaping the Idylwood Plaza lineup. Chicken Salad Chick has opened in recent months, while Quickway Hibachi is targeting a May debut in the former Astro Doughnuts space. First Watch is also expected to open at the shopping center early this year.
Meanwhile, Idylwood Plaza’s Whole Foods is preparing to close in early February before relocating to Falls Church.
