Oakcrest junior Elizabeth Bryan won two individual races as the Chargers placed sixth at the Northern Virginia Catholic Swimming and Diving Championships in Manassas.

Bryan captured the 100-yard freestyle in 53.07 seconds and the 200 freestyle in 1:55.57 during the Jan. 18 girls private high school meet. She also helped Oakcrest finish fifth in the 400 freestyle relay and seventh in the 200 freestyle relay.

Bishop O’Connell of Arlington won the team championship.

Oakcrest also received top-10 performances from several underclassmen. Sophomore diver Sophie Bourdelais placed sixth, while sophomore Mary Abela finished eighth in diving. Sophomore Lindsey Hazelwood took eighth in the 500 freestyle, and freshman Ema Cinott placed ninth in the 200 individual medley.

Juniors Katelyn Erickson, Maddie McDonnell and Amelia Magee recorded top-20 finishes, as did sophomores Adele Schneider, Juliet Van Meter, Michaela Teh and Charlotte Heinricks and freshman Brigita Eschmann.

The result followed another strong showing by Bryan at the National Catholic swimming and diving meet one week earlier. She won the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.64 and finished second in the individual medley as Oakcrest placed 11th in the team standings.

Bryan also went unbeaten in her 10 individual regular-season races for Ilda Community pool of Annandale during the 2024 Northern Virginia Swimming League summer season. Competing in the girls 15-18 division, she helped Ilda tie for first place in Division 17 before winning the individual medley and butterfly at the five-team divisional championships.
