ChalkFest will bring colorful pavement art, live music and family activities back to Reston Town Square Park on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
The outdoor event will run from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. as part of the annual eARTh Day celebration organized by the Reston Town Center Association. Public Art Reston is hosting the festival, and registration is open for amateur artists, families and children. Professional artists may participate by invitation only.
Artists of varying ages and experience levels will receive designated squares where they can create chalk drawings inspired by nature and environmental themes. Prizes will be awarded in the professional, amateur, families and kids, and People’s Choice categories.
Chalking begins at 11 a.m., followed by judging at 4 p.m. Winners will be announced at 5 p.m.
The program will also feature winning entries from the Public Art Reston Poetry Contest, placing work by local writers alongside the visual art.
Visitors can watch the streets surrounding the park become a temporary outdoor gallery. Free face painting for children, live music and other family-friendly activities are also planned. Local businesses and community groups are encouraged to participate as a team-building or community engagement activity.
