U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is using technology capable of intercepting encrypted messages as the agency works to disrupt fentanyl trafficking, acting director Todd Lyons said in a letter sent last week.

The Trump administration revived a $2 million contract last year with Paragon Solutions, an Israeli company whose U.S. branch is based in Chantilly. The contract covers use of the company’s Graphite spyware.

In Vienna, opposition is growing over the cost and need for a proposed community pool. Local officials say residents have sought a pool for decades, with demand increasing after one was omitted from renovations to the Vienna Community Center. Critics have posted lawn signs declaring, “small pool, BIG cost.”
