Charles Schwab plans to open a financial-services branch in the former Four Sisters restaurant space in Merrifield’s Mosaic District.

The branch is planned for 8190 Strawberry Lane, Suite 1. Charles Schwab has not announced when it will open.

“The new location is part of Schwab’s broader branch expansion as we continue to invest in markets where clients are choosing to live, work and build wealth,” the spokesperson said.

The Mosaic District office is expected to provide brokerage and wealth-management services, financial planning and personalized financial guidance from local professionals. Charles Schwab has nearly 400 locations across the United States, including Northern Virginia branches in Tysons and Reston.

The planned branch would fill a storefront that has been vacant since Four Sisters closed in May 2023. The Vietnamese restaurant had operated for 30 years. Florida-based Hawkers Asian Street Food had previously filed to open at the property, but Schwab is now slated to take the space.

The branch plan is one of several recent or pending changes among Mosaic District businesses.

Alta Strada permanently closed its Mosaic restaurant on July 25. It was the chain’s final location in the Washington area after another Alta Strada in Mount Vernon Square closed in November 2024.

Other businesses have recently opened elsewhere in the district. Pura Vida opened at 8296 Glass Alley, while The Tox opened at 2980 District Avenue, Suite 150. Ernesta opened at 2920 District Avenue, Suite 145.

More changes are anticipated along District Avenue. Toimoi Bakery is seeking to establish a brick-and-mortar location in the 540-square-foot storefront at 2985 District Avenue, Unit 170, in early 2027. That space is currently occupied by Falafel, Inc.

Falafel, Inc. is aiming to relocate in fall 2026 to a larger Mosaic District space directly across from Barnes & Noble. Both the bakery opening and the Falafel, Inc. move remain future plans.
